Well, as you know that the Band Camp had ended, we've learn a few important things.
FIRST, we learn how to use a metronome efficiently for every piece (Even though we use it for almost every sectionals with ma'am xinyu's help and guidance)
SECONDLY, we also learn about many things Mr Tan teaches us for example articulations for Chorale and Jubiloso and for Overture for Windband No1. Mr Tan uses comical ways to teach us like "Don't Kill Nicholas" and I hope all of you remember. (Not just that part but all the parts he taught us)
THIRDLY, I think we've all learn a lesson from Mr Lum ---Rhythm is the fundamental building block of music. Without rhythm, the music will stop. So please count. A metronome is there for some purpose. Please also count your rhythm systematically so every beat fits into the bar.
LAST but no least for Band Camp, I would say although we've been through the 3 days camp, I feel its a fruitful experience. Please also remember to do your HOMEWORK.
Homework given by Mr Lum
- Write down ALL your rhythms.
- Write down Bar numbers so next time if Mr Lum ask you to play a bar number you can refer to it easily.
- Please study your scores.
- Keep in touch with your instrument. (So you'll not lose your embroche)
Yesterday, the 1st Recital and Section Competition have ended, I got nothing much to say but all I had to say is I got entangled. I understand how all of you felt puzzled or so. Anyway let me go to First Recital. Douglas, good try playing "Jingle Bells" but you need more work on that. Don't keep repeating the same note if you play it wrongly. Also, don't practise last minute. Zhiqing, good job playing "My Heart will go on". Like your tone.
As for Section Competition like what I say, its partly my fault. I lost confidence on the actual day and I guess all of you know why. I do not wish to tell much because I got a swimming gold test today. Let me also take the opportunity to say sorry if I've done him/her wrong.

may i know why no one posted anything about camp on this blog?
i read both xinyu's blog and band blog..
it seems that your had fun but the attention wasn't given to mr lum but to mr tan..
i dont know how did the 2nd day go so i would not say anything..
but i would want your to view xinyu's blog.. (3rd dec '08)
and tell me how your feel when your read that..
cos i personally felt that she did her job, but its for us to try out..
